we either should cherry pick it or sync once they release a new package.

I have exactly the same problem in Lucid (a Karmic upgrade rather than
fresh install). I found the answer (and hence this bug report) via
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1495229 -- which shows that
others are also finding this problem and fixing it for themselves.

on two clean installs of Karmic on two separate machines.
