Oh, I just see that even when not having the "noauto" I cannot unmount
the partition with drivemount applet. There is an error dialog saying
umount: only root can unmount /dev/hda1 from /media/xp
So is drivemount applet completely broken or what can I do about it?

I have the same problem here on Edgy. In my fstab I have (among several
other entries like that)
UUID=35F6A1B1239DA095 /media/xp ntfs-3g
defaults,user,noauto,locale=de_DE.utf8 0 0
I include "noauto" because I don't want to have my xp partition mounted
at boot time but only mount it on demand. H

drivemount shows flopp
I have the same problem with the drivemount applet (gnome-applets
2.14.2-0ubuntu1). Partitions with option noauto in fstab don't show up.
