I am experiencing the same problem. I have also had the problem on previous use
of evolution, in fact I remember that is the reason I quit using it before.

I very much doubt you will have it again but, yes, next time you have
the same symptoms, this will do the trick.
Now, closing INVALID -- although it was probably a bug, the full details
are now lost (how the upgrade proceeded, what was originally in the
Outbox* files, etc).

Well,
I have made the first step and then I erased all files starting with Outbox
(because they were >0Kb).
Now I am going to stop and tomorrow, in the morning, I will restart Evolution
and I will report the situation to you.

Please check the size of the ~/.evolution/mail/local/Outbox file (after
verifying, under Evolution, that you have no emails there).
If it is not 0 (i.e., an empty file), please:
* exit Evolution
* remove all files starting with Outbox: 'rm Outbox*'

For example this morning I have started evolution to 12 a.m and when I click
button SEND/RECEIVE Evolution sent five mail that I sent yesterdaywith
