Hi guys,
i would like to have dpkg --get-selections | gzip -9 > data.gz output
from one of you that can reliably reproduce this problem.
None of the samba packages from warty to feisty did ever set these
symlinks and we need to find what is doing it.
Also note that i am not able to reproduce it

In Bug #48705 I see this workaround:
1. Open a terminal
2. sudo rm /etc/rc3.d/K09samba
3. sudo rm /etc/rc2.d/K09samba
4. apt-get remove samba
5. apt-get install samba
Can someone confirm this is the correct work-around ?

We aren't going to get any further with this for Edgy. Please
investigate further early in Feisty (hence "later").

I was able to reproduce this issue upgrading from 6.06LTS to 6.10.
Deleting the K09samba symlink and running sudo apt-get install -f
allowed me to continue w/ the upgrade process.

I still have the same problem. It is not an upgrade and I have never
had Samba installed on this computer before. As cleentrax reports, this
happened after trying to install samba from the Shared Folders dialogue.
Removing the two symlinks allows me to install with no problems. (Could

the K09samba symlinks in in rc2.d and rc3.d resolved the issue
everytime. does anyone knows what creates these symlinks? they do not
seem to be a part of samba, so whats writes them down?
