Same error with the radeonhd 1.3.0 from xorg-edgers
Yes, everything works fine with the -ati driver, because the -radeon driver
will be loaded
I wanted to use the -radeonhd because i dont need support for old cards ;)
i have probably no choice, i must use the -radeon driver... It's a pity.

The support for the -radeonhd driver in Ubuntu 9.10 is minimal, since
the -ati driver should support the same cards and more. But please try
an updated driver from https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive
/drivers-only so we can see if it has been fixed upstream.
