No need. Guidance displayconfig needs some major re-engineering to work
well with the current xorg. We've hacked it into mostly working for Hardy,
but that's about it. Unless upstream is suddenly reinvigorated we'll
probably have a different solution for Intrepid.

The solution to your mother's problem is to go manually select the
correct monitor model, since Plug n Play isn't working. Unfortunately
this solution isn't very well documented at the moment.

It might for me personally, because I can go and add the disappeared
resolutions into the xorg.conf. However, my Ubuntu using mother would be
permanently stuck with the lower resolution, and I bet there are plenty
of other users who do not feel comfortable manually editing xorg.conf.
