I am having the same problem. Whether the option is 640x480 or 320x240
makes no difference. I get about 2 picture updates then nothing. Same
localhost: as others have tried. I reloaded webcam-server with no
luck. I did run updates after installing ubuntu.
As the original report says, I ca
I solved this problem by manually decreasing webcam resolution from
640x480 to 320x240.

Issue is resolved... Sort of. I scratched everything I had on my Ubuntu
machine and reloaded a fresh copy of 9.10 and did not do any updates.
Everything works fine as long as I do not run any updates. Cheese works
and the WEBCAM-Server with the Java applet both work fine unless I run
the Ubuntu upd

Update through more testing:
I installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 9.1 on another machine and right off
the old and new WebCam works through Cheese and Localhost:. I ran the
updates and now neither the old or new work in cheese but the new one works
just fine in Localhost: and WebCa
Through further testing I restarted my Ubuntu server with the webcam
attached, and did not open the web page to request the video stream in
any manner for 12 hours. After 12 hours I opened the web page to request
the video stream and saw the current video, at least 3 images of it
before it froze. S
I reassigned your report to package webcam-server, I don't have a webcam
right now to reproduce this issue but if somebody could check this,
great.

Yes this is reproducible. Using Localhost: on either the local
machine or IPAddress: on a remote machine I only get 3 images before
I am left with the last image taken unless I restart the Hosting
computer.
Through testing I have found if I turn off the Webcam Service and turn
it on one mi
