SInce you are using overlay Xv as far as compiz can tell your video
doesn't actually exist and it is drawing on top of a black window, thus
the solid black shadow. If you tried with mplayer it would show a blue
shadow because it would be drawing on top of a blue window.
Your driver needs to suppor
