Since you've been active on the bug more than the original reporter, I
think if you have found the issue to be gone we can consider it to be
fixed. People can always reopen (or file a new bug) if they find it to
still be an issue on their hardware.

This does seem to be working without having to use the xinput command
any more. Top-right corner tap is middle button and bottom right is
right button. It would be nice if the config applet gave access to more
settings though eg which corner does what and what to do with multiple
finger taps.

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?
If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under

Could this be an ordering thing, in that the touchpad appears to be
captured first in Macintosh Emulation then, later on, the SynPS/2 driver
has a go, but it is already configured?

This is really annoying. It appears that two finger tapping no longer
works as it always used to. On previous versions of Ubuntu tapping with
two fingers emulates the middle button. This seems no longer to be the
case. Is this something to do with "Macintosh Emulation"?
The middle button is NOT op
It's button 2, so it makes sense for it to be on 2 fingers, and to make
it easier to middle-tap than right-tap because (almost?) no touchpad has
a real middle button, but most have a right button. So obviously
somebody decided it would be better to be "consistent" with Windows at

I can not even get the 2-finger-tab working correctly... not to be
speaking of the 3-finger-tab.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature. Seems like a 2-finger-tap
now emulates right click, and a 3-finger-tap emulates middlemouse. I
guess I'm not the only one having problems getting a 3-finger-tap
correct..

I found a way to enable this without resorting to editing xorg.conf:
xinput set-int-prop 'SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad' 'Synaptics Tap Action'
8 2 3 2 3 1 2 3
The numbers following the 8 correspond to the *CornerButton settings in
order RT, RB, LT, LB followed by TapButton* 1, 2 and 3.
Shame there
