Looking at the display I can confirm that the bottom of the MythTV GUI
has been pushed off the screen by the same depth as the XFCE top menu
panel.
I can also confirm that the menu panel remains present on playback of
video even though the video playback should be fullscreen.

Adjusting MythTV
Re-tested under 0.22.0+fixes22783 and has the same issues.
I'm using a virtual machine with an 800x600 display and get the
following output in the mythfronend.log

It looks like the actual MythTV Frontend screen has been offset by XFCE.
If after restarting the frontend application you start up the Screen
Setup Wizard the base starting point is below the XFCE menu.
Enabling Autohide in the XFCE panel settings will fix this, but it
doesn't feel like it is the
