You appear to still be using Jaunty's kernel (2.6.28) instead of Karmic's
(2.6.31). You should use the latter if you intend to use Karmic! Most likely
the grub configuration (grub.cfg/menu.lst) was not properly updated, and you
need to run "sudo update-grub".
