I noticed this too , but once the fonts gets ugly it also affect other apps
such as terminal,is it the same for you ?
what about other browsers ?

I've found a Workaround for this problem. Just rename the hidden file
.font.config (may .font.config.bak) in your home folder. reloggin to
Ubuntu and start Firefox again.
With this the problem is solved for me. But why is it not active after a
update? I attached the font.config for analysing
