This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it

I have found something in the syslog when restarting the laptop with the
USB external hard drive attached:

Actually, even when I plug my USB mouse while OS has booted (running) it
is not recognised. I have to reboot with the mouse plugged-in in order
to use it!

Alright, when I restart with the USB devices plugged in it behaves
differently; I can see that the device is there but can not mount it.
I have Cruzer 8G; when I plugged in before restarting the laptop, the
red indicator (on the USB device) did not light up at all; after the
restart it did.
