After a system update earlier today, I found that this is definitely
still happening, and, since I couldn't immediately find this bug report,
I reposted it as #538893. There are additional problems when booting,
and I added a screen photo in that report, showing what happens to the
text console scr
This too has regressed.

before starting the X server.
