If you try using the nvidia binaries from the nvidia website with the
linux-rt kernel, you will have problems. I strongly suggest you use the
nvidia driver packages in the Ubuntu archive, as they have been prepared
to properly build against the linux-rt kernel.
Since this is not an actual problem

nvidia web site

Which version of the nvidia drivers were you trying to install? I am
going to assume you were using the jockey driver manager utility. If you
could tell me the version of the drivers you tried to install, that
would go a long way in helping me work out where the problem is.
