I have the same problem in 10.04 using gnome-swallow-applet rather than
i8kmon. Basically, applications take longer to load than 10 seconds when
you log in due to system load as the GUI is starting up.
A workaround is to right-click on the applet and select "reconfigure"
every time you log in, but
I see this has moved from Invalid to incomplete, is there any progress
happening?

Hi,
I have exactly the same issue in 8.10. I also had it in 8.04. The problem comes
when you do many things on start-up and it takes too long for the i8kmon window
to appear so gnome-swallower does not find it. It then asks it you wish to
reload which then works fine but leaves the original appl
