I am updating status to invalid since i still can not reproduce this bug
so i still feel it is a profile issue or a problem that is only on your
system.

- again lightning isn't removable, only deactivable
- the new profile takes with itself lightning as I said You

I've tried to force upgrade of lightning into extension manager of thunderbird.
It says me that lightning isn't upgradable, because installation is onto a
read-only file system, but it isn't!
The user owner of that directory, has all permissions. Only group and others
have r+x as permiss

Lightning does NOT come installed in thunderbird nor in Ubuntu by
default you have added it at one point and kept profile left over.

I upgraded Thunderbird with the package of kubuntu distribution (8.10 -> 9.04);
of course I've added some other extensions from web, but with this release of
Thunderbird, it seems as the lightning extension comes natively and can only be
actived or de-actived, but not removed (or it's imposs
