Nicolas,
Unfortunately your question don't have a simple answer. Moreover there isn't a
way do this well in a bug report.
Perhaps in UbuntuStudio+1 will make some line of texts for explain differences
between these two kernels.
However can I close this bug?
Thanks!

Alessio,
I managed to get wireless to work with -lowlatency by compiling
installing the rt2870sta module from Ralink 2.3 driver sources (and
enabling its wpa_supplicant related options). What is the difference
between -rt and -lowlatency ?

Thanks Alessio,
The same issue is present with your -lowlatency kernel. Is there some
way to build a backports-modules package for it ?

Nicolas,
Sorry but we can't provide linux-rt based on 2.6.32 for Lucid. So the
bug will not fixed soon.
In any case I would want suggest you, if you still need a low latency
environment, to use my -lowlatency kernel available on my PPA. For more
information:

Hi Alessio,
I just tried the latest Lucid updates (with kernel 2.6.31-10-rt) and the
same problem is present. The wireless card is detected but
NetworkManager shows all networks with full signal strength,
successfully connects but then I have no internet connectivity. The
problem was solved with k
Hi,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity
in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you
try with the latest development release of Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx)? ISO CD
images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/
Thanks!

Alessio,
I've been using your backports packages for a few hours now, and it
seems to work very well. I'll report again in a few days if I encounter
any issue with it. Thanks a lot for your help!

I did some additional experiments with rt2* modules.
I tried compiling and installing the drivers from ralinktech.com
(ignoring the errors and blacklisting rt2800usb, as indicated on several
forum threads I found). They work perfectly with the -generic kernel,
and seem to work better than the stoc
Okay, I think there is something I've missed since the beginning with

I get the same results with this option. I also tried applying it to
rt2870sta and setting it to 1, but the problem is the same.

Nicolas,
Please follow these instructions:
Create a file (rt2800.conf) in /etc/modprobe.d/ with this content (yes
it is only one line):
options rt2800usb nohwcrypt=0
So reboot, try and report result!
Thanks!

Nicolas,
What is the version of the generic kernel which works? 2.6.31-14.47 or

Moreover could you provide "sudo lsusb" output with device attached?
Thanks!
