This is still an issue for me. After upgrading from Hardy to Lucid the
authentication dialog just hangs after entering the password. This is
true for every application that is using authentication!
Nothing happens after entering the password and pressing authenticate.

Hi. This is my first day using Ubuntu, but I believe this bug is
affecting me as well. I am running v9.04, and it seems to download the
updates, but i am prompted to enter my admin pass to install. i have no
pass word, so i click ok. the prompt closes, and... nothing happens.

Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the final Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Perhaps it depends on whether or not authentication has been recently
given? The key icon is still in my notifications area.

Perhaps it only occurs in Update Manager, and not Software Store? Update
Manager just did it again, but when I just tested Software Store, it
doesn't do it.

Just tested in the Update Manager, and clicking Install Updates asks me
for my password twice with a PolicyKit dialog box. (What's more, the
first PolicyKit dialog box appears as unfocused.)
