That's great news.
I tried the Gutenprint driver on Jaunty with no luck. I got a similar
failure (ghostscript crashes).
I'm not sure whether I have time to try Karmic again in the near future.

I was able to print the file successfully on karmic alpha 6, using a
Dell 1710n printer + Generic PCL 6/PCL XL Printer - CUPS+Gutenprint
v5.2.4 driver.
I noticed that there are some drawing objects outside the printable page
area. Could that be part of the problem?

I installed 0.47~pre0-0ubuntu1~9.04 on jaunty. The failure looks
identical. Here is the relevant cups error_log:

A pre-release of the upcoming Inkscape 0.47 is now available in Ubuntu
Karmic for testing. Because *so* much stuff has changed compared with
the version you reported your bug against, would you mind re-testing
this new version and see if this bug is now resolved?
