I've released a new version with a proper fix. The Debian fix listed in
553500 only accidentally worked, and I do not expect it was reliable.
r17906 has a correct fix to the bug (and new translations to boot).

posted to resize the window else i would have just uninstalled the

Could automate resizing with xdotool. But this is a dirty trick.

It took more than an hour to get to the grey box stage at level 334
after an update. (I thought it had crashed the first few times, but
System Monitor showed it running flat out the whole time.) Resizing
works.

Did you try resizing the game window? I've realized that in the netbook-remix
version it works fine, but in the classic ubuntu desktop it's necessary to
change the window size in order to make the game appear.
No idea how to fix it though... but it would be nice to at least find a
definite work
It's still not working here. I ran aptitude update; aptitude install
gplanarity; without anything changing.
