Sorry for the "me too" here but... I followed the purge and reinstall
advice and for a while the problem had disappeared however it has now
re-appeared.
When I leave a document window open for an indeterminate amount of time
but at least a good hour or so and then return to it and go to save it

update doesn't appear to work properly (two clean installs, to machines,
same problem, same fix). A remove and reinstall seems to sort it.

integration again.
The "save", "save as" and "export" dialogs have improved. The various check
boxes now have labels, and the "filter" dropdown is populated with text.

If you looked at where it claimed to be fixed it was in openSUSE. It is
fixed for Ubuntu also but is stuck in the upload queue at the moment due
to the freeze. Someone will likely process it in the next day or two.

I've observed the same problem in the writer part. It saves in an old MS
word format (although e.g. Word 2003 was selected) which causes the loss
of e.g. German umlauts or the €-symbol (probably any non ASCII
character).

same happens here when i am trying to save an .xls with greek characters
, although when i am trying to save in .ods everything works fine. Also
i can't create a database with oobase , when i finish the wizard no file
is created and i am returned back to the final step of the wizard

installed in Karmic on this machine.
The problem stay when I try to open normal ods file and save it to xls via

New problem - OOo Calc saves wrong xls when openoffice.org-kde package is
installed! without it - saves correctly.
Example:
- Install openoffice-kde in Karmic
- Open OOo Calc
- Create new file, type "тест" (in russian letters) in cell A1.
- File - Save as, select "Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (.xls)

I have updated to latest version today and this bugs is still here:

A quick update on the progress I have been making to fix this bug. Some
of my fixes have already landed and others I am still finishing up a few
things with and will have the patches for the package maintainer very
soon.
B: After saving and then trying to save again the directory is different (one
I forget to mention that this problem don't exists for another (freshly
created) user on my system.
Using OO without "openoffice.org-kde" package works fine (but looks ugly).

After updating Jaunty to Karmic Beta the save dialog is crashing my
OpenOffice (Impress and Writer) continuously. After i used the open
dialog for the first time (after updating), the open dialog doesn't
crash my OO and seemed to had fixed the problem with the save dialog for
me. Nevertheless both
I have found a new small issue on KDE & Karmic Beta:
When I try to "Save as" file with dots in filename in another format, kde
dialog cuts the filename to the first dot.
For example, I try to save "my.file.example.odt" as "my.file.example.doc", I
press "Save as" and see only "my" in filename.

In alpha4 I have the problem that the file dialog is taking several
seconds to react on a click. Looking at top, I see many file dialogs
open using lots of memory without actually having a window. Confirm that
trying to add something to places crashes openoffice. I tested the
Jaunty version and the
Two further problems:
- The file dialog is extremely slow when surfing through the directories
- When inserting an image in a Writer text, the All image formats does not
recognize any files - thus for example I have to select the specific file
format (PNG) in the type-drop down to be able to see
I think this problem is connected:
When trying to export a drawing as an image file from Draw, there is no filters
available (the Filters drop down says "All files").
The only export option I have is through "Export as pdf" in the Files menu.
