this watch off, so I can close this bug manually.

No I didn't, but I discovered that Vega Strike has it's own bug tracker:

So I submitted a bug report there, too, and posted a link to this bug
report.
I also discovered that I can run Vega Strike on the same hardware using
Ubuntu 9.10 +
