The generated file gdb-empathy.txt is empty.
I can only follow the instructions until step 2 (after type: run)
The screen changes to black, the keyboard does not work.
The only thing i can do is to restart my notebook (power button).

I have the same issue on Ubuntu 9.10 - 32 bits.
The issue only happens when my internet connection is through wlan0 (wireless).
But if i am using eth0, empathy works fine.

I can confirm this issue, but it is more severe than it seems. When
Empathy crashed, the user has already signed in. Maybe a certain library
Empathy uses already set to receive Internet traffic. A buddy sent me a
message some while later, and the Empathy UI kept showing up and
crashing and showing
It seems that the bug is in libtelepathy-glib. I don't know why, but I
tried commenting line 1158 in connection-manager.c and i rebuild the
package. Now it works. It seems that it cannot open a file, but I don't
know how telepathy works.. and I could not understand it completely.
