Kenneth , Would a .gif be ideal? when everyone is trying to abandon the format,
are we stuck with this as our only choice?
[especially since this is a new product and expect to take it forward into
several releases]
How is firefox able to implement a png , ? could something of the sort be done

In fact it seems I am out of my league here.
We just need to update a gtk.Image with each frame, I shall try to do
it, however if someone knows exactly how to do it, then please step in
:-)

I my branch, the code is in place to support a GIF, however I am working
on an implementation with serveral images acting as frames so we are not
constrained by a 256 colour palette
