This may be a different problem than #416041. I saw the behavior being
described here on knetworkmanager, not the plasma widget. Bug #416041 is
for the widget.

I saw similar behavior when trying to connect to WPA network. It worked
fine with WEP. WEP would connect as usual. WPA would ignore me like I
never clicked.

Did you set the networks to connect automatically? I found If a
connection has been set as such, clicking won't connect it. But if you
leave connect automatically unchecked, then you can connect via clicking
on the network.
