Howard, With your method, the dn and cn end up looking like this: dn: cn={8}misc,cn=schema,cn=config cn: {8}misc Whereas with the tutorial's original instructions, they resembled: dn: cn=misc,cn=schema,cn=config cn: misc So, you'd still have to edit the files manually to remove the
