The bug isn't in thunar, rather in okular. Okular's desktop files
(/usr/share/applications/kde4/okular*) contain "%U", which means that
the file manager will pass URLs to okular, which apparently doesn't
support them. If it doesn't support them, then "%F" should be used
instead.

My mistake.
The following file names:
A File.pdf
AFilé.pdf
AFileà.pdf
All give an error when opening, but only from thunar (it seems thunar
does some urlencoding of the file names before sending it to okular,
hence I get an error as: 'could not open file: my_file%25C%31.pdf'
Perhaps I should ch
Can you please attach an example file? What do you mean by "non-ASCII
chars" in the filename?
Also, Karmic ships with Okular 4.3.0. Can you please check if this is
still an issue?
