I have exactly the same problem (but under a Debian distribution, which
is not so different of an Ubuntu server distribution).
Change the variables rmem_max, wmem_max, tcp_mem, tcp_rmem and tcp_wmem
by :
rmem_max=8388608
wmem_max=8388608
tcp_mem='8388608 8388608 8388608'
tcp_rmem='4096 87
