Fabio, thank you for answering. However, there have been some
modifications in both pulseaudio and Audacity which have let me record
very well. I lost my USB drive, and I am using a laptop now in which
recording has no issues. We should close this as fixed

Ok, I would like to say I fixed it, but I only got out of my own
ignorance: I completely removed gnome-media from Synaptic. Then, I
installed almost everything there is from pulseaudio and alsa (mixers,
guis, gtk, apps). I restarted the machine. After i opened the gnome-
