Good that it works for you Cojeda, it doesn't work for 'us'.
It looks like we'll have to wait for the next kernel update, which is not bad.
The only thing is ignoring poor update manager and figuring out what to leave
out (linux-libc-dev? ... i wonder if that's ok to update)

My case:
Ubuntu 9.04
Nvidia 8400
4 gb mem
and the following peripherals connected
SimpleTech external hard drive
modem md300 Sony Ericsson
pendrive kingston
All via USB, unplug the peripherals and went back to the update.
The upgrade works in perfect condition.

I get a kernel panic using the 2.6.28.13 kernel (was prompted for
security updates) as well. I booted without the 'splash' paramater to
see more info and saw:

I am having the same issue; after upgrading and with the same error
message; -11 kernel works fine for me as well. Another instance of this
