Something odd is up with YIM lately and 3rd party IM clients.
I found this works on both Pidgin and Empathy.

i solved the problem
It may be the scs.msg.yahoo.com server's problem. I have change the default
server in login advanced frame to cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com which is in china. yahoo
can login well and quickly.
