recommend an upgrade to address such issues as we are reluctant to backport
nonfree firmware too far in order to keep from introducing regressions. So this
should not be an issue in the latest release with non
It does work now... but I had to grab non-free firmware off kernel.org
and manually add. It'd be nice if this got recognized automatically.

I checked the mainline build deb. rtl8192e is in the staging tree but the
staging tree is not built. You may have to build your own kernel with
CONFIG_STAGING enabled to try the driver.

rtl8192e driver got into the kernel after 2.6.31, so it's not included
in karmic. You can try some newer version of mainline builds to see if
the wireless driver works. Check http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/.
