Updated to the Daily PPA and with version: Gwibber 1.2.0 am now able to
see messages without issue. Still on same ideapad as mentioned above.

I have a clean install of Karmic alpha 2 and can confirm gwibber is not
displaying messages for me either. As reported by others Notify OSD is
showing updates, but they still do not appear in the gwibber panel.
