I'll add that the applet does also crash if it starts up and my camera
is connected but unmounted and I then mount it using the applet.

I have the same problem, only it mounts my camera properly, but crashes
when unmounting it. I'm running Jaunty with a Canon SD200 digital camera
connected via USB.
I will try to get a stack trace attached within the next day.
