Okay here we go. See below for the requested prints. I have made some
changes, hoping that this was a general intel driver issue, to the
xorg.conf. This did not work. I should also mention that additionally it
is not possible to enable Compiz. Please advice if you need any other
information, and if
I have been working on a friends laptop to sort this bug out for a
while, but unsuccessfully. I will come back shortly with a print of
lspci -vvnn, /var/log/Xorg.0.log, /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Looking at the attachments in this bug report, I noticed that
"Screenshot-20.png" was flagged as a patch. A patch contains changes to
an Ubuntu package that will resolve a bug, since this was not one I've
unchecked the patch flag for it. In the future keep in mind the

This bug applies both to GDK and Qt.
It is connected on rendering of character by X11 with graphic card.
The character glyphs are clearly cached in a memory which is "corrupted".
The same characters rendered many times in a window have same display.
Strangely, HTML page display by Firefox seemed
But, other applications such as KDevelop, mono and firefox continue to
black out characters/fonts. The disappearance and reappearance of
blackening of characters is evident in the screenshots.

Have included screenshots of some applications. The darkening of
character/font background continues with time. However, such effects
seems to completely disappear after some more time. For example the
later images of OpenOffice Writer document doesnot display such effects.

Clearly, it is not connected to driver of graphic card, but on rendering
of characters.
It is very strange.
Can you confirm the problem get worse with time ?
Can you try softwares based on Qt (KDE), Gtk (default gnome application)
and Firefox, and tell me if all of this software are impacted ?
