This bug is inherent to a problem with the front panel audio, and is solved.
Now, if you have another bug, not regarding the front panel audio, you have to
open another report.

I have re-opened this bug. Updating ALSA to 1.0.23 solved the front
audio problem, but it brings another problem: when a process uses audio,
it monopolizes audio until it is stopped/killed.
If I watch a YouTube video, then open Rhythmbox, I can't play my music
until I quit Firefox.

I am not an expert in sound.
I found that in System->Preference->Sound, you can display a mixer.
In this window, in Preference (in french, sorry), you can add channels.
Do you have both the rear and front channels ?
