Binary package hint: network-manager
From time to time (after an unpredictable period of time) the wifi
connection gets lost.
It is not possible to reconnect (most of the time, the connection does
not even appear when left-clicking on the applet icon)

When the network is lost I can't see it either with a plugged USB wifi
dongle:
