I have the same problem since the kde 4.2.3 from ppa

sudo adept manager pops up a windows saying "could not start ksmserver.check
your installation"

I also get a bunch of errors in the term, but I can't reproduce the bug
with a fresh kde 4.2 from kubuntu 9.04. (there isn't another x window
coming up).
