I ran a script to use "pdftext" to extract the text of this PDF, then
use "iconv" to display the text of the PDF in each possible converted
encoding.
Could you try this:
- Open a terminal window
- Change directory to where your problem .pdf file is located
- Run: pdftotext tmp.txt
- Run: ico
The bug should be sent upstream by somebody having the issue

Interesting problem. I can confirm that I see the "disorder codes" (what
should be Chinese characters, I assume, are interpreted as a different
encoding and displayed as "garbage" characters) in evince as well.
However, when I install the "acroread" package, this same PDF is still
unreadable with
I can confirm that the document renders as in the screenshot, both in Jaunty
evince and okular. The error messages on the console are:
Error (46114): Unknown operator '>>'

parsing markup: Error on line 1 char 17: Invalid U
