Can confirm on my setup. This also happens in Thunderbird with some
glyphs in the message list, I've attached a screenshot. The artifacts
started to appear since I've switched from fglrx to the opensource
driver (ati).

FYI, I see the same glitches with some radio buttons in VirtualBox (when
closing a VM and VBox asks whether to save the machine state).
