I observe the same bug on jaunty with 2 java applications including netbeans ;
here is the report for GenealogyJ when run in konsole :

get the same error.

I am currently working from a laptop with an almost identical setup,
except that it's 32 bit. I use openjdk. So far I haven't had the problem
on my laptop. Next week I'll be back home, then I'll try the 32bit jdk
on the 64bits computer.
