I don't know about Lucid, but I no longer have this bug in Karmic. Back in Jaunty, I triggered this bug by preforming an action that causes a notification bubble (such as muting sound) during boot while the login sound is playing (which is before the Gnome panel is rendered). -- Notification bub

I currently have to stop the notify-osd process altogether since it uses 70-90% of my processor constantly, and it also causes problems when using the scroll bar on applications, highlighting text, watching videos full screen, changing the volume (I can't.), not

I tried twice more to reproduce this bug and was successful both times. The first time the bubble over lapped the main GNOME panel and the second time, it was in "the correct location", which is where I normally see the notification bubbles appear. I have not triggered another notification yet, so
