I have also tried solution 1 and the same problem occured again. Then I looked
for the permission of the other files with extension .sty in the latex folder.
I have changed the permission of xargs.sty with sudo chmod 644 to read/write
access for the owner and just read access for the group and ot
I also have this problem, and would like it solved for all users. I
tried eldad 's solution: 1) download xargs.dtx from ctan, 2) in that
dir, run "latex xargs.dtx" (produces a bunch of xargs.* files), 3) sudo
make the xargs dir, 4) sudo cp xargs.sty to that dir, 5) sudo texhash,
6) open lyx, in t
easier yet:
1) mkdir -p ~/texmf/tex
2)
3) cp xargs.sty ~/texmf/tex

temporary solution:
1) download xargs.dtx from
http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/xargs/
2) open a terminal where the downloaded pack is saved and run
