Good news!
As I shut down my computer for the night, it shut all the way down. So I
restarted Jaunty and then rebooted to see what will happen. Rebooted
successfully. Looks like that fixed it.

I installed:

Then I rebooted and there was no change.

Can you test the latest upstream vanilla kernel build and confirm if
this issue remains in the upstream kernel? -
