Yup, root did own the .mozilla folder. Still no progress. I ended up
fresh reinstalling the whole system. Thanks for your help.

k, if you removed the folder in root, did root own it?
ie: Does root own the .mozzila folder in your home directory?

Tried removing .mozilla folder, uninstal and reinstall but nothing
works. Tried loading it from console and all I get is "bus error".
Any advise will be good for now. Thanks

Firefox 3.0.9 Fails to Start
I don't know if it's related, but I'm also having problems with the
latest firefox and firebug. Firefox seems to work OK, but in firebug if
I disable a bit of css and then try to re-enable it, a chunk of the css
dissapears, including the bit I was experimenting with.
