Duplicate status is bogus I think.
My sound stopped working in Jaunty as in - no sound - nothing - I looked
at https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355825 - and it does not ring true.

AFAIK this bug is not a duplicate of Bug 355825. It is a new, but
related bug. Why: I do not have any problem pausing a playing tune,
restarting it some time later. I only can connect one source to
alsa/pulsea

Pausing a media will most of the time freezes the software used while using
Xine and PulseAudio (default configuration in Kubuntu Jaunty)

Sound no
I tried amarok - dead silence. Have played with using alsa instead of
pulse - doesn't make a difference.

But: it is the same: starting gnome or KDE the only application working and
playing sound is amarok. The gnome-applications do not play any sound at all.
Even applictions not using gnome or KDE
I'm using gnome - so I don't think that applies.

OK. Done. I had to install python-launchpadlib first before I could use
"apport-collect -p alsa-base 359303". Looks like the upgrade did not run
komplete from hardy over intrepid to jaunty ...
