Happens on Ubuntu Karmic 9.10.
I'm using msn-pecan, I'm assuming g_list_append() is in the 'core' and
not affected by a plugin. Not using AIM account, using Jabber and MSN
(msn-pecan).
I was in a Jabber chat and had to close twice the window as well. A few
minutes later Pidgin crashed. If you ne
I ran pidgin under valgrind as suggested, and reproduced the crash. The
test case I describe does not require logging onto AIM multiple times,
but any kind of message sent to the victim's account will work. It just
happens that when you log on multiple times, the AIM system sends you a
message.
I don't understand why this bug was marked invalid. I got a crash with
the exact same stack trace, and the original report fits the pattern I
saw, as a crash triggered by an incoming message will happen without any
apparent action by the user.

I can reproduce this bug as follows:
1. Configure pidgin to hide all conversations by default (may not be necessary
to reproduce).
2. Configure pidgin to connect to an AIM account.
3. On another machine, log on to the same AIM account.
- On first machine will see a "you've logged onto this account
