Today I install the ubuntu studio jaunty and when start blender it
behaves like the screenshot posted here and
as inoremap wrote on 2009-04-08: (permalink)
I checked again, problem disappears after replacing only one file
/usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so to i915_dri.so from package
libgl1-mesa-dri_
updating to mesa 7.4.1 from xorg-edgers completely solves the problem

I have the same problem with an i965 chipset and all OGRE3D
applications. Switching back to libgl1-mesa-dri_7.3-1ubuntu4_i386.deb
causes the problem to go away.

Please give the exact version numbers of both the good and bad packages
you tested.
Also, are you familiar with bisection? To find the bug it will be
necessary to do this to isolate which patch caused the failure.
