It seems to be a recurrent issue. The bug #131050 (and its duplicates)
talks about the same, and a fix was released on 2007. Maybe the same fix
could work here, too.

I've exactly the same problem. It seems to be a compiz issue, because
the problem only appears when I have the desktop effects enabled. The
problem is reproducible even with a newly created user, so I haven't got
any custom settings apart from the default ones.
